500 households in Makueni profit from emergency livestock feeds.

A minimum of 500 chosen households from Kilome Sub-County will profit from emergency livestock feeds program, courtesy of a partnership between the County Authorities of Makueni and the European Union (EU) via the Nationwide Drought Administration Authority (NDMA).

The feeds will tackle the disaster of lowered amount of pasture and fodder for livestock because of the little rainfall skilled within the space through the October-December rain season.

The distribution train was launched yesterday (Thursday) by Agriculture CEC Joyce Mutua and officers from NDMA in Kiima-kiu/Kalanzoni ward, and is ongoing in varied areas throughout the sub-county.

Beforehand, the division of agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives Growth has applied varied contingency actions within the livestock sector. A few of them are remedy and deworming of animals, vaccination of goats towards Contagious Caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP 3), probably the most extreme illnesses of goats, and capability constructing of officers on Livestock Emergency Tips and Requirements.
