A chips vendor in Nyandaru has been sentenced to serve two years in jail or pay a high quality of Ksh200,000 after he was discovered responsible of cooking chips with transformer oil and promoting them to prospects.
The courtroom heard that Elijah Mwangi Muthoga used transformer oil to organize chips for purchasers at his resort in Ol Katou buying and selling centre. He would later resell the oil to popcorn distributors for the preparation of popcorn for purchasers.
He was sentenced alongside his confederate, Zachary Mwangi Gitau, who bought the transformer oil to him.
Gitau was slapped with a 10-year sentence or another high quality of Ksh10 million for vandalising a 100kva transformer opposite to part 169 (1) of the Vitality Act of 2019.
