EACC Opens Probe on Matiang’i’s Wealth As Ex-CS ‘Flees’ The Nation

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Fee has began investigating how former Inside Cupboard Secretary Fred Matiang’i acquired his wealth.

The anti-corruption company has written to the Chief of Employees and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei searching for licensed info on his declared wealth.

In a letter dated February 27, EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak requested to be availed with the wealth declaration kinds that Matiang’i submitted when he was sworn in as CS in 2013.

“Pursuant to Part 30(1) (4) (b) of the Public Officers Ethics Act, the fee needs to request for licensed copies of Declaration of Revenue, Property and Liabilities kinds for years 2012 to 2022, together with the preliminary and ultimate declarations,” the letter reads partially.

Twalib Mbarak confirmed the fee was conducting investigations on Dr Matiang’i.

“The Fee is finishing up investigations involving Dr. Fred Matiang’i, former Cupboard Secretary for Inside and Coordination of Nationwide Authorities,” the letter reads.

“Our officers Mr. Abdul Low and Mr. Paul Mugwe shall be accessible to gather the paperwork.”

The transfer comes because it emerged that Fred Matiang’i had since left the nation amid separate investigations by the Directorate of Legal Investigation over an alleged faux police raid at his Karen residence.

In a letter addressed to the DCI, the State Division for citizen providers revealed that Matiang’i left the nation every week earlier than he was summoned.

“The topic departed on February 19, 2023, by means of JKIA  on KLM flight quantity  KL566,” reads the letter dated February 28, 2023.

Matiang’i had been summoned to seem earlier than the DCI final Friday.
