Egerton College has revealed plans to discontinue eight diploma applications that haven’t been attracting college students to the establishment.
Vice-chancellor Prof Isaac Kibwage introduced the plan throughout a gathering with workers on Tuesday.
“As a part of reorganising the establishment we’re scrapping some eight diploma programs which have failed to draw sufficient college students to maintain them regardless of having employed lecturers for them,” stated Prof Kibwage.
The VC stated the transfer will even enhance the monetary stability of the cash-strapped establishment.
“The college has recognized the eight diploma applications which we intend to scrap. Lecturers and workers in these departments will sadly must exit,” Prof Kibwage added.
The VC talked about that the eight diploma programs haven’t been attracting a quorum of 15 college students within the final 5 years.
The programs embody; Bachelor of Industrial Know-how, Bachelor Of Science (Dairy Know-how and Administration), Bachelor Of Science (Wildlife administration and enterprise), Bachelor of Know-how in Civil Engineering, Bachelor Of Science (soil, atmosphere and land use administration), Bachelor Of Science (Built-in forest useful resource administration), Bachelor Of Science (dairy land assets administration) and Bachelor Of Science( in utilized aquatic science).
Prof Kibwage additionally introduced that the college will declare extra workers redundant to stay afloat.
