Kitui East Mp Hon Nimrod Mbai has given Defence Cabinet Secretary nominee five days ultimatum to drive away his camels from Kitui County due to a series of attacks orchestrated by Somali herders in the county.
Taking to his social media to voice his concerns, Mbai who has been vocal on issues to do with Somali pastoralists who invade Kitui East and South region in search of pasture , said , Aden Duale had confessed yesterday while appearing before parliamentary appointments committee that indeed he owned over 200 camels in Kitui and promised to flash out and confiscate the camels , if their owners don’t drive them away.
“We have given Hon. Aden Duale 5 days to get his camels out Kitui county. His herders are killing our people in cold blood. We don’t care if he is a minister of defense or Putin.
He confessed that he has over 200 camels in Kitui. Our brother Mutuku is the latest victim to be killed by Camel herders at Mutha. Enough is enough.
We shall flash out all the camels from our land and confiscate them in police stations until their rich owners show up.” Said Nimrod .
It’s not the first case the herders from North Eastern region have clashed with locals in Kitui County but last week’s death of one person killed by the Somali pastoralists in Mutha , Kitui South.
