Makueni is set to open doors to one of a kind Child Protection and Development Centre at Mwanyani courtesy of a partnership with Mully Children’s Family (MCF). MCF is an internationally acclaimed children protection centre that is currently housing over 3000 rescued children in different parts of the country.
On Thursday September 29th, 2022, Makueni First Lady Anita Mutula accompanied by Gender and Children Services Executive Member and Chief Officer Dr. Naomi Makau and Jonah Kyathe respectively, had a day-long bench marking tour of the expansive MCF in Yatta, Machakos County.
The partners affirmed their commitment towards the operationalization of the Makueni Centre in order to provide safe space for street and other vulnerable children in Makueni.
Anita commended the two teams for the great milestones since the collaboration in 2019 and assured them of her commitment to strengthen the partnership, out of her passion for children’s welfare.
She further reiterated her intentions to look for more partners to assist to realize her commitment to the cause.
Once operational, the Centre in Mwanyani will;
- Provide an alternative temporary placement for rescued and referred children for protection, rehabilitation, empowerment for eventual reintegration in society;
- Provide basic needs to the children such as food, shelter, clothing, medical care and basic education;
3.Initiate and develop entrepreneurial ventures and environmental development projects to increase levels of self-provisioning of targeted Orphans and Vulnerable Children’s basic life needs and supplement donor funding ; and
- Rehabilitate the children morally through character and behaviour transformation with the aim of reuniting them with their respective families.
