While unveiling his cabinet in statehouse, President William Ruto assigned his deputy Rigathi Gachagua the following roles;
Chairing cabinet meetings.
Will be tasked with fostering good relationships between the devolved system of government and the national government.
He will also deputise the President in all functions that are allowed in the constitution.
Deputy President will oversee the implementation of all cabinet decisions across all ministries and departments.
He will be incharge of coordinating constitutional commissions and independent offices in matters that require the intervention of the national government including but not limited to budgets and policy frameworks for their operation.
He will coordinate the planning and supervise the implementation of development partners’ funded programmes and projects.
Any other role as assigned by the President from time to time.
Ruto also noted that Gachagua’s roles had been included in the Kenya Kwanza agreement that was signed between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and affiliate Kenya Kwanza leaders.
