Governor Wavinya Ndeti flags off 6 Lorries of pharmaceutical drugs and other medical items. The supplies dispatched are worth 50 Million shillings and are expected to last for 2 months.


While addressing the press in Machakos level 5, the governor disclosed that this is part of her ‘first 100 days pledge’ to the residents. She also pledged to have all hospitals supplied with essential drugs on quarterly basis.

Further, the Governor warned chemist owners against stocking government drugs. She said those caught selling drugs from local health facilities will be prosecuted and their shops shut down.
The Governor told those responsible for the safety of drugs in the health facilities across the county to ensure they don’t get to local chemists but are put into proper use for the benefit of the sick. “I am not a medic. Mine is to aid you do your professional work effectively by ensuring that there are medicines and other non- pharmaceuticals in the health facilities . My government has also installed an Oxygen tank at the Kangundo Level 4 hospital to help de-congest Machakos Level 5 hospital”, said the Governor.
Wavinya also said her administration will pay NHIF for people with disabilities and those above 65 years as she encouraged locals to join the health scheme.
